My story

I came to Australia from Sri Lanka as a 19-year-old student. Australia became my home, and the place where I built a career, established businesses and discovered an enduring passion for its wildlife.

With a background in information technology, I worked with major organisations before founding an IT company that occupied much of my professional life for almost two decades. Building businesses taught me to think practically, ask better questions and recognise the value of the right people.

Choosing a different kind of success

On my 45th birthday, I stepped away from running my IT business to make more room for the life I wanted to lead. For me, success increasingly meant having the freedom to choose how I spent my time.

Today, my interests span technology consultancy, options trading, wildlife photography and travel. I enjoy working on worthwhile ideas, exchanging perspectives with thoughtful people and exploring places that reward patience and curiosity.

A camera and a reason to explore

Photographing rare wildlife has taken me to remote forests, islands, mountains and coastlines. The photograph matters, but so do the people, the preparation and the experience of being there.

My Australian Big Year in 2022 brought these interests into sharp focus: 774 bird species seen and 772 photographed in one calendar year. It was a journey of persistence, discovery and a growing appreciation of what we stand to lose when natural places disappear.

A personal philosophy

I create my world, I have all I need and I am free.

This website brings together the ideas, work and adventures that make that life meaningful. If something here resonates with you, I welcome a thoughtful conversation.
